Cheap Bars in Panama

Panama has some great bars and clubs, and one can usually find a pretty good deal at a handful of them. At most of the clubs, drinks typically range from $3.00 for a beer to as much as 6 or 7 for a mixed drink, depending on what day of the week it is, and what type of place you are at. Again, this is the price for clubs.

One can definitely drink well at bars in Panama, and can find a good deal at your local Panama bar if you look hard enough. Mid week is the best place to find a deal, with clubs like People and Moods offering drink and bottle specials for those that are looking to start the festivities midweek. The Londoner has a great happy hour from 5 to 7 Monday thru Thursday, with all drinks half off. $2.00 for a stiff rum and coke, or even less for a perfectly poured British draught-you cant beat that! Often, clubs will run specials on the bottles during the weekend, so keep an eye on Busca Panama for bar specials. Companies like Seco or Smirnoff will run drink promos, and if you are lucky there may be some good looking factory reps walking around handing out free shots and T-shirts.

There are also some lesser known cheap watering holes, where you can get toasted on under $10.00. Sicilianos in Area Bancara is a great panama bar and restaurant featuring $1.00 beers until 8pm during the week. They also have really good pizza. Sapore di Mare on Via Brasil has $.50 beers, as does Billards Nelson in Obarrio (behind Farmacia Arocha). Rock Café on Thursdays has all you can drink for $10.00, but it can be a pain trying to get a drink. The Spot on Calle Uruguay has good bottle specials as well.

Casinos are another great option for cheap drinks, with Venetto Casino leading the pack with their towers of beer for under $10.00. If you havent seen one of these hangover inducers, you need to check it out, but make sure to bring a friend or four. Usually they only offer domestic beers like Panama, Atlas, and Balboa, and if you are a miller light man then you wont be disappointed. Catch them before 6pm and these things are half off. We are talking about at least 10 pints for $5.00. Obviously, their intentions are to get you slobbering drunk and over to the tables to gamble away your inheritance. If you stick to the bar and avoid the slots and tables, then you are one up and ready to go out with a little green in your pocket. Hotel Continental and Crown Casino also run great drinks, some as low as $1.00 for a good mixed drink during their happy hour which usually runs from 5 to 8 on the week days.
